Karekare Wilderness Reserve is situated in the Waitakere Ranges forty minutes west of Auckland New Zealand.It is a wild place bordered by the Tasman Sea and vast cliffs.Rare endemic birds nest in the sanddunes and visitors must stay on the single track to protect these and other rare creatures. An amazing day trip or you can overnight in huts if you are keen!
