Caesalpinia by the side of a English footpath
Caesalpinia is part of the Legume family. Legumes (i.e. Pea) are important for our ecosystem as their roots host bacteria that are able to capture and store excess nitrogen from the atmosphere which can be utilised by neighbouring plants as fertiliser - without any risk of nitrates leaking into the watercourse.
